They also help your shop create a consistent process for how vehicles are evaluated \u2014 regardless of which technician is assigned.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Building Customer Trust<\/strong> \u2014 Inspections provide a transparent and detailed assessment of the customer&#8217;s vehicle condition. When customers can see exactly what issues or potential problems exist, it helps them understand their vehicle assessment, fosters a sense of honesty and openness, and helps them to feel like you are not trying to hide anything or recommend unnecessary repairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tip: <\/strong>Digital vehicle inspections are a great way to perform efficient inspections and provide the ability to easily add detailed notes, photos, and videos. Many inspections use a \u201cgreen, yellow, red\u201d coding:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Green = Checked and OK<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Yellow = May Require Future Attention<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Red = Requires Immediate Attention&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Exterior inspection<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Body and Paint <\/strong>\u2014 Perform a visual inspection and note pre-existing dents, scratches, rust, and signs of accidents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lights and Signals<\/strong> \u2014 Inspect the functioning of headlights, taillights, turn signals, brake lights, clearance lights, and license plate lights.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Windshield and Windows<\/strong> \u2014 Look for cracks or chips.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Side Mirrors<\/strong> \u2014 Check functionality.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Windshield Wipers<\/strong> \u2014 Assess the condition for clear visibility.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tires and Wheels<\/strong> (see below)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Interior inspection<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Damage<\/strong> \u2014 Note pre-existing interior damage (rips or scratches on the upholstery, dash, etc.)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dashboard and Gauges<\/strong> \u2014 Ensure gauges and warning lights are working correctly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>AC\/Heating System<\/strong> \u2014 Verify proper functionality.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Clutch (if applicable)<\/strong> \u2014 Check for proper functionality.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cabin Filter<\/strong> \u2014 Note if it needs replacement.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Seatbelts<\/strong> \u2014 Check for functionality and damage.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Under the hood inspection<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Engine Fluids and Caps<\/strong> \u2014 Check engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, brake fluid, and power steering fluid. Ensure caps are tightly sealed.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Battery<\/strong> \u2014 Look for battery corrosion and secure connections.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Belts, Hoses, and Lines:<\/strong> Look for signs of wear, cracks, leaks, and loose connections.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Filters<\/strong> \u2014 Check oil, air, and fuel filters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Wiring <\/strong>\u2013 Check for damaged or loose wires.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Spark Plugs<\/strong> \u2013 Look for wear and fouling.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Engine Mounts<\/strong> \u2014 Inspect for wear or damage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cooling Fans<\/strong> \u2014 Check for proper functionality.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Brake Master Cylinder <\/strong>\u2014 \u200b\u200bCheck for signs of leaks on all seals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Exhaust Manifold<\/strong> \u2013 Check for leaks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Leaks<\/strong> \u2014 Look for any signs of fluid leaks throughout.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Under the vehicle inspection<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Exhaust System<\/strong> \u2014 Check for leaks, rust, or damage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Suspension Components<\/strong> \u2014 Look for worn-out shocks, struts, or bushings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Frame and Chassis<\/strong> \u2014 Inspect for rust, cracks, and damage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fuel Lines and Tank<\/strong> \u2013 Check for rust, damage, and secure attachment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Steering Components<\/strong> \u2013 Check linkage, tire rods, ball joints, rack and pinion, and steering gearbox for damage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Drive Belt<\/strong> \u2014 Inspect for signs of wear, cracking, or damage.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pullies<\/strong> \u2014 Check for worn bearings.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Leaks <\/strong>\u2014 Look for signs of fluid leaks throughout.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bolts<\/strong> \u2014 Check for loose or missing bolts throughout.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tires and Wheels <\/strong>(see below)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Brakes <\/strong>(see below)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Brake inspection<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(This is a consolidated list of brake inspection items. You may see some repeat items from the lists above)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Brake Fluid<\/strong> \u2014 Check fluid level and condition.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fluid Leaks<\/strong> \u2014&nbsp; Look for brake fluid leaks around the master cylinder, brake lines, hoses, and calipers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Brake Pads<\/strong> \u2014 Inspect for wear and thickness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rotors and Drums <\/strong>\u2014&nbsp; Look for scoring, grooves, uneven wear, and warping.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Calipers and Wheel Cylinders <\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 Look for leaks or damage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lines<\/strong> \u2014 Look for cracks, bulges, or signs of deterioration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bolts and Clips<\/strong> \u2014 Ensure no bolts or clips are missing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Brake Pedal <\/strong>\u2014 Check for proper travel, firmness, and responsiveness. Listen for unusual noises.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Booster<\/strong> \u2014 Check for vacuum leaks and proper operation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Parking Brake<\/strong> \u2014 Check for proper engagement, holding power, and ability to fully release.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tire and wheel inspection<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tire Pressure <\/strong>\u2014<strong> <\/strong>Make sure they are at the right levels.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tread Depth<\/strong> \u2014<strong> <\/strong>Measure for adequate tread depth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tire Condition<\/strong> \u2014<strong> <\/strong>Examine the tires for cuts, cracks, bulges, or any other visible damage on the sidewalls or the tread.
